I am Melissa Corbo, LCSW, believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I will meet you where you are at in your life and we will work together towards healing and learning healthy ways of coping with stressors.
I would describe my counseling style as warm and interactive. I like to provide an empathic, non-judgmental, and supportive atmosphere where you can feel comfortable unloading the worries that have been troubling you. I believe in identifying and building upon your existing strengths, while maintaining a solution focused lens to work towards the goals you would like to achieve.
I prefer to use a combination of treatment modalities, such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. I also enjoy incorporating mindfulness techniques into sessions, such as guided imagery, and visualization. Self-care is a big focus of mine, as I believe you cannot pour from an empty cup.
My clinical background is in working with a diverse range of populations around a multitude of issues. My specialty is working with individuals (and their loved ones) on adjusting to life post stroke or traumatic brain injury and addressing the challenges that can arise with this “new normal”. I also have experience working with the following challenges: depression, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, life transitions, medically complex issues, chronic illness/pain, grief/loss, and post Covid.
Seeking out therapy can be scary, but you have taken the first step in a making a positive change in your life. At times, finding peace can seem unattainable, but you can make it happen! I look forward to working with you!
