Major Life Transitions

Major Life Transitions

Major Life Transitions

One of the things you can count on in life is that everything is constantly changing and we will be faced with various life transitions throughout. Whether it’s your living situation, your career, your relationship, friendships or your family dynamics, sometimes it seems like every day is a brand new day. On the one hand, you may find the changes you’re facing to be minor. On the other, it’s likely at some point you will be faced with changes that feel pretty momentous—maybe even life changing.

Major life changes can include marriage, divorce, the death of a parent, child, spouse or pet, job loss, a change in socio-economic status,or even simply moving. Any one of these events, as well as some others, can lead to a sort of existential crisis. You may be at a loss for next steps or find yourself feeling adrift.

Help During Difficult Times

Finding your footing in changing times can be difficult. It can be beneficial to have the help of someone who can provide you with unconditional support, an objective perspective and maybe even help you figure out the more practical side of things. Counseling can provide all of this and more. In a safe, nonjudgmental setting, you will find a space where you can express your thoughts and feelings freely, explore alternatives and learn new ways for relating to the changing landscape of your life.

Moving forward doesn’t mean moving on. It means recognizing your life circumstances have changed—maybe radically—and you need to adjust to those changes in the healthiest and most productive way possible. Your experience is both unique and not so unique, in that that challenges you are facing are indeed personal, but you are not alone in facing them. Having a guide who can support you in understanding what is unique about your personal experience, as well as what parts of your experience are shared will help you gain the perspective you need to find your way through.

Whatever your challenges, you will find the help and support you need at West Hartford Holistic Counseling. We are dedicated to helping you once again find that footing you’ve lost, so you can both better navigate the life transitions you are facing in the moment, and have the tools to work through the inevitable life changes you will face in the future. Working with our experienced counselors is not a one-time fix, but part of the life-long process of reaching your fullest potential, no matter what your challenges, and surmounting them with grace, ease and the confidence that you will be better for this.
