Kayla McDonald

As a social worker with a clinical focus in eating disorders, adjustment disorders, prenatal/postpartum anxiety and depression, and other mood disorders, I am passionate about helping individuals achieve optimal health and well-being. With a treatment approach that is Health at Every Size aligned, LGBTQ+ affirming, strengths based, and utilizes Internal Family Systems with CBT and DBT skills, Kayla McDonald is committed on providing clients with the support they need to navigate life’s challenges.

As someone with years of experience working with college students and adults, I understand the unique challenges that individuals face during these transitional periods in their lives. Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, experiencing pre or postpartum anxiety and depression, or simply looking for support as you navigate life’s challenges, I am here to help. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, and develop the skills they need to fully experience all aspects of life.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centered. I work closely with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan that meets their specific needs and goals. Through our work together, clients can learn to identify their strengths, improve their self-esteem, and develop a greater sense of self-awareness.

One of the core elements of my treatment approach is Health at Every Size (HAES). This approach focuses on promoting healthy behaviors, rather than weight loss, and encourages clients to cultivate a positive relationship with their body. I am also LGBTQ+ affirming, and strive to create a safe and supportive environment for clients of all gender identities and sexual orientations. I work with clients to accept and celebrate themselves as they navigate their place within the LGBTQ+ community without pressure to fit into a label or category.

In addition to my HAES and LGBTQ+ affirming approach, I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) with CBT and DBT skills. IFS is a therapeutic approach that helps clients identify and work through the different “parts” of their personality in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. This approach can be particularly helpful for clients who struggle with disordered eating, anxiety, or depression. I have worked with individuals from a wide range of ages and backgrounds and I am committed to providing culturally sensitive care. I understand that each person’s experience is unique, and I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard and understood. I bring elements of my personality and humor into the clinical relationship in order to build a genuine and lasting connection with my clients.

If you are looking for a compassionate and experienced social worker who can help you achieve your goals and improve your overall health and well-being, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would be honored to work with you on your journey towards greater self-awareness and holistic health.

I believe in the power of collaboration and work closely with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan that meets their specific needs and goals. Through our work together, clients can learn to identify their strengths, improve their self-esteem, and develop a greater sense of self-awareness.

Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, navigating fertility, pregnancy, or postpartum adjustments, or simply looking for support as you move through life’s challenges, I am here to help. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I am committed to helping clients achieve optimal health and well-being.
