Our brains are always on and day to day life can lead to an autopilot response. Mindfulness is a way to slow down and make sure that you take the time to enjoy those meaningful moments that happen every day. That hug when you get home, or the I love you on the way out, that warm delicious coffee in the morning are all examples of moments to savor. Something as simple as taking the time to pause, breathe, and mindfully take in where you are and where you want to go can be the first steps in moving forward from feelings of hopelessness, fear, anger, frustration, anxiousness, or exhaustion.

We each have our own unique offering for the world. As human beings, we are wired for connection. Our experiences also wire us for protection, which can make us feel closed to this “channel” and make relating to  ourselves and others difficult .I love working with clients to reclaim their voice, their relationship to their body and their inner strength that has been quieted or disconnected. Kaitlin Smith work as a therapist to create an environment that supports someone returning to themselves and their own innate ability to grow, heal and thrive. Regardless of your path, I believe trauma and one’s emotional suffering is unique to every individual.

I won’t define you by a textbook, but rather by your narrative, I want to know your story. If it’s disrupting your life, it is real and I’m here to explore and address it with you. I believe people have the ability to stabilize, recover, and become who they want to be. This can occur during any stage of life, it is not ‘too late’ and you are not ‘too damaged.’ You can still steer the direction you want to go. I offer a warm and authentic desire to learn and understand your world.  I listen and provide companionship while you explore and make sense of the private and yes, sometimes dark places, of your experiences. You will not be judged or criticized for your thoughts, feelings, or past. You can trust that I can bear witness to your moments of heartache and grief as well as your moments of joy and growth. I see you as the expert in your own life and myself as a collaborative partner with the skills and tools needed to work towards your personal goals.

Whether you are seeking therapy for more severe mental health issues, trauma, or simply feel stuck or lost, it is something we can work towards together. I invite anyone who would like to take the time to pause for reflection to allow me to guide and support them through this life changing process. You can expect to be met with a calm, compassionate and playful presence. I strive to listen beyond words, relate beyond the surface and share wisdom that I’ve picked up along the way. My integrative approach combines psycho-educational with cognitive-behavioral techniques to address obstacles that stand in the way of achieving good health, healing and happiness.

My holistic model is embracive and all-inclusive ensuring that your voice is heard and validated. I enjoy working with all genders, orientations and relationship statuses.  Internal growth can be  intimidating and it can be vulnerable. It can also refresh your soul to feel clarity as to where you’ve been and what you’re searching for. I’m here to cheer you on and equip you. You’re already resilient, I’m just here to remind you of that.

I also enjoy working with couples  I use the lens of attachments we’ve formed to others throughout our adolescents. This involves us exploring past and current relationship dynamics to identify patterns that help build understanding and acceptance of our relationships. Mindfulness and Gratitude are also powerful tools in working with couples to reconnect and reassess.
