Erin is a creative arts therapist and psychotherapist who specializes in treating adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors. She also treats residual effects of grief, trauma, postpartum, and substance use.
With an undergraduate degree in Studio Art and Art History from College of Charleston, Erin began her career in NYC galleries, teaching art classes, and coaching youth sports. Through her own experiences and passion for the arts, she was exposed to the therapeutic process of making art.
When we make art, we create a safe distance from emotional responses which provides us time and space for reflection. The final product operates as a visual bridge between thoughts and feelings surrounding the human experience and allows us to rewrite our sense of self.
Upon briefly interning for a NYC nonprofit with a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Erin went on to earn her master’s of professional studies in creative arts therapy and creativity development from Pratt Institute. Prior to WHHC, Erin has worked in both inpatient and outpatient treatment centers for mental health and substance use. In addition to art-making, Erin’s approach is a combination of attachment based-therapy, somatic therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and CBT.
Erin previously served as the research chair for the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Connecticut Chapter. Erin currently serves on postpartum international support’s (PSI CT) policy and advocacy committee. In her free time, she enjoys creating art, spending time with her dog, Sir Elton John, and training for the NYC Marathon.
