Deciding to enter therapy is the first step towards making a desired change in your life. We all face difficulties and may need additional support during these times. No matter what the life event or circumstance may be, exploration in therapy can lead to personal growth, new perspectives, behavior change, and potential for life with new meaning, joy, and purpose.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience, I am Marissa Wright, I worked with adults across the life span ranging from young adults, adults and seniors in varying clinical settings including psychiatric day treatment, non-profit health organizations and outpatient psychotherapy at community service agencies. Utilizing an interactive, supportive, and strengths-based counseling style, I work with clients to address issues such as anxiety, depression, major life transitions, grief/loss, and caregiver stress. I also have extensive experience working with individuals and their caregivers on adjusting to life post Alzheimer’s/Dementia diagnosis and addressing the associated future challenges that can arise.
Since my practice is client centered, I build on existing strengths using a combination of treatment modalities that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing. I also believe strongly in incorporating self-care, mindfulness and breathing exercises into therapy sessions.
Whether you’re interested in self-discovery, learning more effective coping strategies, improving self-esteem, or building healthier relationships, therapy is a positive investment in yourself. I believe the relationship between the client and therapist, built on trust, is central to a positive therapy experience. Together we can develop a plan specific to your needs to help reach your desired goals.
