Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling, getting support on life’s journey can be an integral part of one’s healing and growth. Looking for help can sometimes seem challenging and overwhelming, but can also be one of the bravest things you do for yourself. Everyone needs support at one point or another and allowing me to be the bridge for that healing is my pleasure and honor. I believe everyone has the ability and resiliency to get through difficult periods in their lives and want to help you learn the skills and support you in your own personal journey. I specialize in helping people cope with anxiety and mood symptoms.
I have two primary modalities of therapy that I use. DBT is a skills based therapy that provides strategies to help cope with day to day life stressors, improve communication, and assert for your needs. I also utilize attachment based therapy to discuss impact of family dynamics and work to address core issues and conflicts that can impact us in adulthood.
I believe in an authentic counseling environment where you are free to be yourself and be open and honest. I will work to build a relationship of transparency and genuineness in the safe and warm environment that you deserve. I want to help you recognize your strengths and reach your goals. I look forward to helping you in your own journey.

Negative challenges are pretty easy to spot—the death of a loved one, the breakup of a relationship, or loss of a job, for example. Effectively gathering the tools to meet the challenges of grief and change can mean the difference between getting stuck in your circumstances and moving on to a place of growth. That’s often not something that’s easily done on your own. Counseling—whether it’s immediate and solution-based or more in-depth—can support you in sorting out what you need and help you make better, more informed decisions.

What’s often more difficult to anticipate than negative challenges is the impact of positive changes—like a new job, marriage, or the birth of child—on how we’re feeling, as well as reacting, to that change. Counseling can help you make the necessary adjustment, so your experience, no matter how seemingly difficult, comes out on the positive side of things.

Almost any kind of change comes with some emotional baggage. Sometimes it’s a light load, and sometimes it’s a heavy burden. Figuring out how to handle that is what counseling is really all about. You may be too close to the issue at hand to be able to get a grasp on it, or you may just be simply too overwhelmed. Whatever the case, seeking out the support of an experienced therapist can help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

If you’ve gotten this far, you’ve probably come to the conclusion it’s time to deal with whatever it is that in front of you. The experienced therapists at West Hartford Holistic Counseling are here for you, to help you move forward through your discomfort—whatever the source—and get you on the path toward a richer, more rewarding and fulfilling life. Contact us today to set up an appointment.
