A psychiatric nurse practitioner is a Registered Nurse (RN) that has completed additional, graduate-level courses in advanced physiology/pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, and advanced pharmacology. A psychiatric nurse practitioner will also complete at least 500 faculty-supervised hours before taking and passing the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner exam administered by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). A psychiatric nurse practitioner combines nursing, psychosocial, and neurobiological expertise and methodologies to diagnose and treat those facing psychiatric or mental health challenges.
Karen works with clients 10 years of age and up.
